Efflorescence
7/5/2022 (Permalink)
Water damage to a basement can reveal itself in different ways. One way is by the presence of Efflorescence. This consist of a white chalky stain that forms around the wet or damp area. When water evaporates it leaves behind minerals causing the white chalky stains. Efflorescence can occur in cracks, along the wall and floors. If the water source remains available, the Efflorescence will continue to go. If left untreated it will begin lifting and damaging the concrete coating. It is not harmful and can be cleaned easily.
